Although MFN is mainly known for its fund services, we also assist with bond offerings. MFN services encompass assisting with bond offerings in Hong Kong and beyond, including the Regulation S or Reg S or 144A bond offerings. Global bonds, or global notes, where the securities are cleared in common depository, are also an area that MFN specializes in.
Bonds, or notes and stocks are both securities, but the biggest differentiating factor is that stock owner have ownership, i.e equity in the company, while those who hold bonds or notes do not have any ownership. Although no ownership is given to bond holder, bond holders are the first group of investors to get paid back, before equity owners, if the company is deemed that such payments should be made, such as in bankruptcy.
